Baumes Corcades, Via Ferrata Climb in Centelles (Barcelona)

Who?

Via Ferrata Baumes Corcades is considered a via ferrata for everyone, it won’t disappoint neither the experienced hiker nor the eager beginner ready to take on a new challenge.

What?

A via ferrata (Italian for “iron path”) is a protected climbing route. The essence of a modern via ferrata is a steel cable which runs along the route and is periodically fixed to the rock. Using a via ferrata kit, climbers can secure themselves to the cable, limiting any fall. The cable can also be used as aid to climbing, and additional climbing aids, such as iron rungs, pegs, carved steps and even ladders and bridges are often provided.

Where?

Via Ferrata Baumes Corcades or Centelles is one of the most interesting via ferrata routes in Catalonia for initiation. The installation is in very good condition. It has the longest Nepalese bridge of the peninsula of 69 m!

When?

At The Barcelonian we believe in sustainable tourism and authenticity, we accomplish this with small groups, our Via Ferrata Experience is never larger than 8 people per group and we only provide this unique tour once a month, the first Saturday of the month at 10:00.

Why?

It requires very little equipment and a good head for heights. Unlike climbing problems, via ferrata is a route marked out by metal rails and rungs embedded into the mountain. It’s easy to follow and a great way to tackle otherwise impassable cliffs and ledges. Whether you’ve done it before or are planning a new adventure, this via ferrata is for you!
