Take a two hour guided walking tour around Barcelona’s Gothic quarter. Find the hidden secrets of the oldest architectural structures of the city through Barcelona’s Medieval and Renaissance sites. When carrying out some renovation works in the 1930s, a whole complex of Roman ruins were found underneath the heart of the old city. Another hidden gem in Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter is Plaça Felip Neri – the entrance to Barcelona’s Jewish Quarter. This tiny square used to share space with a church, the church that Gaudí was on his way to visit before his tragic accident. It is also one of the places of Barcelona where you can see the effects of the Spanish Civil War bombings. The beautiful neighbourhood known as the Gothic Quarter is probably the district with most history of the whole city, with so much to discover around each corner, we definitely recommend a guided tour to not miss anything!

The Gothic Quarter is the first choice for many visitors to Barcelona. It is the cultural hub of the city and suitable for any type of traveller. The Gothic Quarter in Barcelona dates back over 2,000 years and is one of the most talked about neighborhoods in the city—full of charm and captivating history. It is suitable for every traveller.

What?

The beautiful neighbourhood known as the Gothic Quarter is so called because it used to be the Roman village and thus has some remnants of its glorious past.

The Gothic Quarter is one of the most famous landmarks in Barcelona. Located in the heart of the old city, this Barcelona neighborhood features a fusion of buildings dating from Roman times to the 20th century.

The main attribute of the Gothic Quarter is the antique aspect of its buildings, narrow streets and the near absence of traffic. In fact, many areas are for pedestrians only and built like a labyrinth of winding streets and hidden squares.

Where?

Barrio Gótico, Spanish for ‘Gothic Quarter,’ is one of the oldest and most beautiful districts in Barcelona. It is a labyrinth of small streets full of little bars, restaurants and shops. The neighborhood is part of the Ciutat Vella, Catalan for ‘the old city,’ and is situated right in the city center: it stretches from the famous Rambla to Via Laietana.
